Back to Berlin with the bombs we failed to deliver last time. No less than 5 tame boar fighters assailed us from zone 6 right up to the target. The first one was despatched by Sgt James in the rear turret, taking his tally to five. Three of the other 110s were damaged and in fact the enemy only scored eight hits on us in total. Damage was mainly superficial, although the rubber rafts were shredded.
Over Berlin, we avoided the searchlights and unloaded right over the markers.
Our return trip was quiet until the very last moment when a 110 turned up in zone 4. He must have been as surprised as us, because in three passes no hits were scored by either side.
