Star Gazer Mission 43 AAR : Leipzig

"Star Gazer"
Mission 43
Leipzig - Aircraft

At least two crews saw a plane believed to have been "Star Gazer" going down with a flaming port wing over Leipzig; six chutes were seen to open.

This has been verified by the International Red Cross who reports that all the crew, with the exception of Sgt. William Milan, bomb aimer, were captured in the area of Leipzig. (Apparently Sgt. Wm. Milan's wound prevented him from being able to bail out. Sgt. Cedric Shaw, tail gunner, was taken to a medical facility with a minor back wound.)
