London Calling Mission 43 AAR : Leipzig

From the desk of Roger Bartlett

This mission was a bit better than the last. We struck our target and did not lose any crew members.

In zone 5 we encountered an ME110 on a vertical climb. Luckily it missed as we were unable to fire at it and drive it away.

Things were quiet until zone 9. There we were surprised by an ME-110. We received seven hits. Only two of which caused damage. Both our starboard and port wing roots were hit.

Over the target, we encountered moderate flak. Our ship received no hits and our bomb aimer put the bombs on target. Our bombs hit at 40%.

On our way home we were once again attacked over zone 9. This time we were surprised by another ME-110 at 6 low. We received four hits, two of which caused significant damage. Our number one engine was knocked out and although I tried I was not able to feather the prop. We also had our tail turret jammed, which left us very vulnerable to attack from behind. Luckily, that 110 was the last contact we had with the enemy on the flight.

We landed safely and the ship will be ready in a day or two to once again bring the fight to Jerry.
