Banshee flew to Ludwigshaven without encountering any enemy night fighters. At the target zone, we were surprised by a Me110 that put several holes in us and seriously wounded our tail gunner, Sgt. T. O'Looney. We also got hit by a spotlight which put a night flying Me109 on us. However, we reached the drop zone and hit with estimated 40% of our bombs. We turned for home and briefly encountered on Me110 near the German-Dutch frontier, but he did no damage to us.
I am told that Sgt. O'Looney will be unable to rejoin us due to his wounds. His replacement will be Sgt. Preston Bowie.
