Tykhe Mission 51 AAR : Berlin

Joyner, our new tail gunner, let the first nightfighter catch us unaware out over the North Sea. The pilot missed his opportunity, though, and let us get away unscathed. Joyner spotted the next one as we crossed the coast, but the result was the same. On the approach to Berlin we were hit before we knew a nightfighter was even there, but the damage was minor. Joyner hit him back, but it didn't seem to have much effect.

Cloud cover was solid over the city, so we didn't have to worry about searchlights or flak. On the other hand, Keck lined us up on a drifting marker that disappeared into the clouds at the instant of "Bombs gone!". For all our photo will show, it might as well have been taken on the tarmac.

Joyner spotted our final nightfighter back out over the North Sea, and sent it tumbling before it could get a shot off. Not bad for the "new guy"!
