As we crossed the coast we were picked up by a ME-110, nothing with that as we both missed and went our seperate ways. Over the Netherlands we were again attacked and this guy knew what he was about. A quick couple of bursts S/F damage but then the outboard fuel tank on the SW caught on fire. No choice with that as I rang the bail out buzzer and yelled over the intercom for lads to get out. Putting the old girl on auto pilot I was the last one to leave. How quiet the night was watching our ship slowly dive down into the ground with the starboard wing very much on fire.
We all made it out ok but were quickly picked up by troops from a nearby gun battery and soon turned over to the Luftwaffe.
