A relatively quiet trip punctuated by several moments of terror. An ME110 tried to have a go over the first turning point but our rear gunner put a few rounds into it and it broke off the attack and disappeared into the night. As the TIS were going down over the target a second ME110 came in behind but was spotted by our rear gunner and received a good long burst for its efforts and was observed diving away with fire streaming from the port wing and later crashing on the ground.
We took a couple of flak hits over the target which rattled the bomb aimer and we missed the TIs. Trip home to base uneventful.
