Another frustrating mission over Germany. Our early success when Sgt Duggins in the mid upper shot down the first of three 110s over the North Sea was short lived. By the time we got to Leipzig the tail guns were inoperative as was the bomb release mechanism.
The searchlights and flak caught us over the target but the wild boar 109 failed to get any hits on us. Sgt Gooch never had any chance of a decent bomb run, and bombs were scattered well short of the markers.
Even the run home attracted two more tame boars one of which knocked out the starboard inner engine.
