We avoid the searchlights & drop 30 percent on target! Another 110 hits us and the Engineer is now hit! another slight wound! We trade shots & are clear of Berlin. We fly on toward home. Another 110 finds us and the #1 engine is damaged! we have to shut her down! As the fighter passes underneath, the nose gunner gets a critical shot & the night fighter bursts into flames! We fly on without incident the rest of the way.
