What should have been an easy trip became slightly more complicated when two Me110s showed up over the target zone.
The first one surprised us but failed to inflict any major damage. Then the searchlights found us and held us throughout the bomb run. The resulting bomb drop looked to be well beyond the markers.
The second 110 then closed in as we turned for home but Sgt Hilliard in the tail spotted him and dispatched him with a single burst.
