Quiet flight as we crossed the coast. Only a few words were spoken on the intercom as the gunners stared into the dark night hoping to see Jerry before he got the drop on us. Near the target area we were picked up by a ME-110 that snuck up behind us. He was a pro as he chewed up our port tail rudder and the #1 engine. On his second pass our mid-upper Matt gave him a good burst that damaged his port engine and forced him to break off his attack. Over the target Mike our bomb aimer had the TI's in sight and just as he pressed the tit, we were hit by a flak burst in the port wing (S/F damage). With our run off target we yelled out a curse as I banked "ANN" and headed for home. We were picked up by what appeared to be a JU-88, but nothing came of it as we both missed and we headed our seperate ways. Landed with no problems.
