Shortly after crossing the French coast we were attacked from behind and below by an ME110. Our AC took some damage but the Rear Gunner put a long burst into it and it saw it explode in mid-air.
Over the target we were hit by flak on the run up and also attacked by an ME109. The flak knocked out the brakes and autopilot. The Mid-upper gunner damaged the ME109 and it disappeared into the dark which was good as the rear turret jammed. The action cause our load to miss the TIs.
The trip home was uneventful and we made a safe landing using all available runway to stop.
