Shortly after crossing the French coast an ME110 attacked from below and behind. The rear gunner got a good burst into the left wing and the plane broke off trailing flames. Shortly after another ME110 attacked from behind and this time the rear gunner hit it with fire and the enemy AC exploded as the wing tanks were hit.
Over the target we took a flak hit which killed the bomb aimer and caused much confusion in the nose. The flight engineer dropped down and managed to drop the load but we were off target. Trip home was quiet and we landed safely.
