My Darling Mission 70 AAR : Bourg Léopold

Quiet flight as we crossed the coast, Damn I'm cold, I thought in my turret moving it slowly back and forth keeping our tail clear. "Over the target Chaps!" the skipper called out.. We caught a few close ones, Corp Schultz gave me a shout that one of my ammo trays was damaged. The flak seem to drop off as we made our run. "Bombs Gone skipper!" Flt Lt Pittman called out and we felt the ship take a quick dive and turn to port to throw off the ack ack. No other aircraft around. We landed ok from our first op with only a few holes.. Or atleast so we thought until one of the ground crew pointed to out Starboard Rudder.. He looked at us, "only a few holes then?" We stood there with our mouths open, the rudder was barely hanging on.. The skipper came up behind us, "oh I thought it was a little hard landing..!" Big smile on his face as he got into his car and drove off, Poor Matt was puking his guts out near the edge of the tarmac... Seeing our truck, I called to the others, "Come on lads, lets go" we slowly got in and settled down after one last look at the ship, the driver put it in gear and took us to debriefing..
