A ME110 attacked on the run up to target causing some superficial damage to the A/C. Rear Gunner McDowell put a long burst into it and had the satisfaction of seeing is explode for his fourth kill. The A/C was hit by flak over the target with the port aileron shot out and engine 3 being damaged with an oil leak. The flak hit put our load off target. A second ME110 attack on the return trip was successfully dealt with by Rear Gunner McDowell for his fifth confirmed victory. The plane landed safely and will be ready for the next mission
