Ain't No Lady
Mission 70 — 24 / 25 May, 1944
Bourg Léopold — Encampment
Outbound: No encounters
Bomb run: No Tame or Wild Boars; no Searchlights and no flak hits. Bomb run on; 30%
Return: I had just turned us for home when a Me-110 got to us unobserved. In addition to other less serious damage inflicted he hit our nose section badly and killed Tom Creswell, our bomb aimer. On his last pass he put a serious hit into the starboard wing root and took out No. 4 engine. I was able to shut it down and feather it.
Landing: No problems.
Casualties: 1 KIA — Sgt. Thomas Creswell, bomb aimer
