Maiden flight of H-Hunter and her crew over France.
We were picked out by an Me-110 soon after we passed the French coastline. None of the crew saw it coming but thankfully the jerry wasn't a particularly good shot. Our mid-upper gunner Sgt. Duncan said he saw a couple of stray hits to the starboard wing and adjacent waist section but no lasting damage was done.
We lined up over the target without hassle. As reported the weather was poor with significant cloud cover over the target. Sgt. Widowson wasn't confident of a successful run.
The flight home was very quiet indeed. Textbook landing.
