Not a bad sort of trip.
We were deep into France before the first twin engine night fighter showed up. Sgt Jackson in the tail spotted him but missed with his first burst. The fighter didn't fair any better and as he lined up for a second pass Sgt Jackson blew him clean out of the sky. That's his second kill on only his second trip; he's looking like a good man to have along.
We attracted both searchlights and a wild boar over the target but neither caused any damage. We stayed straight and level throughout and lined up right on the markers.
The return leg passed quietly right up until the final crossing of the channel. Here a Me110 who clearly meant business took us by surprise. Fuel tanks & oxygen systems all took hits but luckily with no noticeable effects.
This time we made it all the way home and were able to buy beers for Sgt Jackson in our own local.
