Picked up by searclights on the bomb run and peppered by flak which wounded the rear gunner. All a bit much for our new bomb aimer, who didn't see the T.I.s. Intercepted by a fighter as we crossed the coast homebound which was driven off damaged by the gunners, but not before holing both starboard wing tanks. We put down at Manston due to the loss of fuel.
