Outbound: We had just settled into the stream over the Channel when we met a Me-110: hit our port wing hard, and put some windshield into flight's face. The nose gunner got some rounds into him as he came around for a second pass — enough that his hits were ineffectual and he didn't return. Just before we began the bomb run another 110 came at us; he missed on his first pass and on the second the tail gunner destroyed him (a first for Mayerling).
