To Target: We were attacked just as we entered the target area; no damage except for the port ammo box and the port root and aileron. And then we were caught in a searchlight and a 109 came at us. On his third pass Sgt. Mayerling blasted him from the sky.

Return: Picked up by a Me-110 over the Channel: before the Kraut had a chance to fire Mayerling scored his second kill for the mission.
