Sally Anne II Mission 79 AAR : Givors

Sally Anne II's thirteenth mission into deepest darkest France turned out a shade more dangerous than planned.

Two nightfighters had attacked us during the outbound leg but the only lasting damage was to the rubber rafts. Over the target a Ju88 put in two telling bursts that knocked out the heaters in the cockpit.

We managed to put the bombs down on target but then began the long haul home at 6,000 feet, which attracted searchlights and flak throughout.

An early burst took out the tail guns but luckily no further fighters showed up to take advantage of our plight.

In spite of multiple holes due to light flack there were no injuries to the crew and everyone is good to go again.
