Jasmine Mission 80 AAR : Dijon

Crew of the Jasmine reporting. I must say that this was really what Americans call a blue-milk run.

Pickard spotted our first 110 over zone 6, and sent him away to lick his wounds. Another 110 came in from behind over zone 8 and hitting our port wing. It appeared as though he missed all vitals, and Pickard shot him down, claiming ace.

We encountered no fighters over the target, and although the searchlights didn't spot us. Even with the poor weather, Longfellow [bomb aimer] estimates that we were on target with approximately 30 per cent on the railway.

Our final encounter with Jerry was over zone 9. Jerry came up unseen and hit our bomb bay and wounded Hooke's [mid-upper turret gunner] left hand.

Crew moral is high with our run, and with the exception of Hooke, ready for the next mission. But we are also sobered by the loss of the Sally Anne II and the Marie.
