PM015, PO A. Kinchloe reporting. We were in zone 4, 20 miles west of Den Helder, when we were surprised by a Tame Boar from 6 Low. His first pass damaged the port tailplane root, knocked out the mid-upper gunner's heat, holed the port outboard fuel tank, and wounded rear gunner G. Strachan (who stayed at his station). The Tame Boar's second pass came from 3 Level, and knocked out the flight deck and wireless operator's heat. It's third pass was nose on, and chewed up the starboard wing, including causing a serious leak in the starboard inboard fuel tank. He must have used up all his ammo, because that's the last we saw of him. Flight engineer D. Nobsworthy estimated we barely had enough fuel to make it home, so I dropped our ordnance in the sea and turned for home. Made it back without further molestation. I made a perfect landing, if I do say so myself, despite the starboard landing gear not deploying. (17 hits, 183 Peckham points)
