Dayla May Mission 82 AAR : Givors

On the 25 of June, 1944, the crew of the Dayla May, while on a bombing mission, encountered an ME-110 over France. In the ensuing combat, the German pilot hit the inboard fuel tank on the port wing, and a fire broke out on that wing. The crew of the Dayla May was able to escape the burning plane safely, parachuting into occupied France. Radio Operator Alexander B. Crust was able to escape German patrols, and with the aid of the French Resistance and the Marquis, was returned to England.
