The mission went on alright. We encountered an ME-110 in zone 5, took evasive action, and Smith [tail gunner] and Paul [mid-upper turret gunner] both claimed hits on him. We continued on to the target and spotted an ME-110 coming up behind us over Hamburg. Smith's tail guns drove him off.
We got through to the target without the search lights or flack coming near us. The target was socked in by poor weather, but we were able to drop at least 40% of our bombs on target.
On the way out we spotted a new enemy, one of those Junker 88's that we hear about. He chased us into the clouds, and none of our gunners were able to get a bead on him. Fortunately we were able to lose him and continue back to base.
Base weather was good, and we had no problems landing.
