A pretty straightforward trip to France until we reached the target area.
We were picked up by the searchlights and then surprised by a Me110 who obtained hits on the tail area before being driven off by Sgt Boatman in the nose position. The flak took advantage of the situation and wrecked the auto pilot and the rubber rafts. A single engined fighter however failed to score any hits.
The oboe assisted bomb run looked good in spite of the flak.
Just as we completed our turn for home another Me110 tame boar surprised us from below. This one must have been equipped with upward firing guns as the sudden concentration of damage near the port wing root was most alarming.
That was the last we saw of Jerry and we reached base with no further dramas.
