A brief but bloody trip to Belgium.
We got to the target where Sgt Pounds spotted a Me110 sliding in beneath us. No amount of gun fire or evasive action threw him off and by the time he departed our pilot was dead and the mid upper gunner injured with his guns inoperable.
On the bomb run the searchlights picked us out and this led to a flak hit which smashed the rubber rafts. Sgt Boatman the bomb aimer held his nerve and the bombs went down on the markers.
Homebound a Ju88 showed up but no further damage was incurred.
