Our long trip to Bremen. We are attacked almost immediatrly closing in on the coast. We take hits to the wings! The nose gun finally gets him on a passing shot, trailing smoke! We get close to the target & are jumped again! A 110 hits us hard! The Navigator is hit! The Tail gunner gets him! We approach the heavily defended target! Flak is thick! We take more hits & can't get the right bearings with the replacement Nav. We miss the target & turn to get the heck out of there! The rear gun track is destroyed! We fly out of there & limp home. one minor attack, which we beat back & are back over the Channel! We make it home without furthur incident.
