We were outbound when a 110 jumped us. He got a piece of the plane but nothing serious and then was flamed by our tail gunner. Good shot, that one.
We made our run over the target and turned for home. It was then, on the return flight, that a 109 hit us and blasted our number one engine. We lost that one but were able to safely return to base.
Overall, a quiet one, with only superficial damage and one engine to show.
