Part way along the Dutch coast all hell broke loose. To this day I've no idea what hit us, but the starboard outer fuel tank erupted into a sheet of flame and that was pretty much it. The skipper called the bail out and out I went.
Rescue came fairly quickly considering our proximity to the Dutch coast.
No one else from the crew of Keira was picked up.
