All remained calm until we reached happy valley. A Ju88 attempted a number of passes at us but failed to hit us. Both the nose & tail gunners claimed hits on the enemy but with little effect.
A flak burst just off the nose damaged the nose heating but otherwise we remained intact and managed to bomb right on target.
Even descending to low level in order to keep the bomb aimer happy did not dent our spirits and we returned home safely. Not bad for a first trip.
