Much different, this day mission. Lots more bloody Jerries to deal with, but target easier to see. As we arrived near target, Jerry was waiting. First bunch tangled with our friendly fighters, and Jerry didn't get near us. However, next batch hit us pretty hard; knocked out Corcoran's tail guns, two hits to port rudder, hit to port wing root, and punched hole in oil tank for engine one, causing it to be shut down as we crossed the coast of home. Our defensive fire sent a couple of 190s away trailing smoke, but the others did some damages to us. We were hit by flak too, putting hole in starboard rudder. Even with flak bouncing us about, Sgt WIlson put our load on targer, hitting with estimated 50%. More jerries waiting for us as we turned for home, Sgt. Evans shot down one 109 and damaged a second one, Sgt. Wilson damaged another. But, we made it home in one piece and maintainence chief believes THOR'S HAMMER will be repaird in time for next mission.
