Our plane was hit badly this time out. We were attacked in zone 5 by a 110 that surprised us. The attack resulted in some superficial damage, hit the control cables, and knocked out the starboard elevator.
Another fighter attacked us in zone 6. That was the one that did the damage. We lost the number one and number 3 engines, but were able to feather the props. They also knocked out the tail gunner oxygen, and the tail turret.
The plane was in a bit of bad shape. We jettisoned the bombs and made a long flight home safely. Lucky for us the fighters left us alone.
