Our apprehensive crew headed out in the lead position on our first mission with 314 Squadron.
The flight was uneventful until we were in the area south of Bocholt on the run in to the target when we were attacked by x2 Fw190's. Tail gunner, D.Vale , opened up on one of the Jerries that attacked from the 6 o'clock position and claimed his first kill.
Moments later we were hit by heavy flak in the Wanne-Eickel area suffering numerous but thankfully mainly insignificant damage. Regaining our composure we focused on the last part of the run in, and then suddenly our eggs were gone with an estimated 50% on target.
Jerry fighters showed their face once more but were driven off by our fighter coverage.

Damage: Wing flap inop and superficial damage (13 points).
Claims: x1 (One) Fw190A (D.Vale).
