Extract from a letter home from F/Sgt. Wilson, navigator;
'We had descended to a lower altitude after the fighter had knocked out the oxygen to the back of the airplane. We decided to carry on to the target but must have been hit by flak minutes before starting the run-in. A fuel tank went up and we were told to get out. Five of us baled out safely, but the skipper and Terry were found in the wreckage.'
