Mission 117, 16/17th December 1944
Target: Kiel,Germany.
A.A.R. prepared and submitted by F.O. Bernard Keen
Pilot of Bird of Prey
Well, having had a good laugh listening to "Itma" on the radio in the canteen I could say for this mission "it's that city again", Kiel.
Quiet a long haul. Weather is good, which in one way hinders, as Jerry can spot us better. or is to our advantage in seeing him and the target.
We spotted a Wild Boar and tail gunner Ray Hope hit him (-2) which sent him scurrying.
Through to the target was quiet. The markers were visible before we saw the Flak burst.
Search-light cones didn't find us. Our port wing aileron was damaged by Flak. This did not put Jack Mills off his stride and we claim 30% on the money.
The return home was uneventful and we later gathered again in the canteen to hear "Worker's Playtime".
