A quiet trip interrupted only by some apparently minor flak damage over the target and an ineffective fighter on the homeward leg. It was only on landing at base that it became clear that the undercarriage had been damaged by flak. It collapsed and the aircraft caught fire in the ensuing crash. Only two of the crew and I were able to escape.
