Three twin engined fighters interrupted our out bound flight. None of them were spotted on their approach but their combined sharpshooting only resulted in a single rudder hit.
Over the target the searchlights picked us up which led to the flak hitting us and wrecking the starboard elevator. A single engined wild boar lined us up but he failed to cause any damage.
The bomb run eventually looked like a good one.
Turning for home a Ju88 put shells into the flaps and knocked out the bomb controls. A further Ju88 appeared over the Dutch border but departed without hitting us.
A long night over Germany but ultimately successful with all three gunners claiming a hit on the enemy at some stage.
