A lovely sight seeing our bombers all around us … still it seemed like we were sitting ducks as we continued on our flight. Picked up by 4 ME-109G's as we crossed our escort picked them quickly and drove them off. Over the target we got picked up by another group of ME-109's. The Spits took care of one, and our Mid upper damaged the other one enough to force him to break off, after he put a hit in our SW and damaged my ammo boxes for the tail guns. Over the target it was a fine clear day the Ack Ack missed us completely as we lined up and got 40% on target. The turn for home and we got picked up by a FW190 and a hard climbing ME-110. Lucky for us our escort took care of the ME-110 and our hot shot Mid claimed his second damaged. this one was seen breaking off hard with smoke coming out of engine. Landing was not a problem and we later found out we took a nasty hit in our SW root … Should be ok for the next op.
