Mission 135 Debriefing
Target: Pforzheim
In zone six we were surprised by a Ju88 which attacked with Schräge Musik. Our starboard wing was shot up, but the damage was not serious enough to prevent the continuation of the mission. The first subsequent attack failed to do any damage. The final pass was another matter. Three hits were scored — the first knocked out the number three engine. The mission would have to be aborted, but then the second hit ripped into the bomb bay, exploding the bombs! In an instant seven souls departed this life and started their journey to the next. The third hit was not recorded.
