PM020, pilot officer A. Porter reporting. We were off the Dutch coast, just west of Den Haag, when we were surprised by a 110. Damage was minimal, and bomb aimer B. Vance shot him down when he came around for a second go. We were surprised by another 110 southwest of Enschede, as we approached the German border. Rear gunner G. Yankton got some hits on the Jerry, but not enough to throw off his aim. Our damage was rather heavy, with mid-upper gunner G. Zandvoort being seriously wounded. As damaged bomb bay doors were amongst the damage, I turned for home, with Yankton apologizing the whole way. Luckily, Zandvoort turned out to be not as bad as first feared, and will be available for the next mission. (19 hits, 135 Peckham Points)
