J-Jump Mission 140 AAR : Lützkendorf

Some smart work in the aft turret saw our first two NF visitors off with no damage to us and rather a lot to them. Flak damage over target knocked our bombsight out through the chin however and nearly took young Sapsford's head off (narrowest squeak you've ever seen) and our bomb run had to be guesswork rather than aimed. We missed. Photo shows we overshot my more than a mile.

On the way home we had another visit from Fritz and his radar guided fighters. A cannon shell hit our bomb bay (thank The Lord it was empty otherwise …) but other than popping an O2 bottle and forcing us to dive for the coast and jamming the doors shut damage is relatively minor.

Landing was hairy with a squall coming through just as I flared for a landing and we bounced rather and burst a tyre but the Chief says nothing is too badly bent and Jump will be ready for action by the end of the week at the latest.
