Another tough night over Germany for this crew's second trip in its second Lancaster.
Two Ju88s caused trouble outbound killing the new boy Sgt Bailey in the tail and hitting the aileron controls and the starboard elevator.
Over the target we were held by searchlights and then hit by multiple flak bursts. There was damage to the tail gun ammo tracks, the starboard aileron and the waist oxygen was rendered inoperable. At this point Sgt Rose drove off a wild boar attacker before vacating the mid upper position to enable us to stay at altitude.
Our bomb run looked pretty good and we made our way home without further sight of the enemy.
