No action until we came up on the target, we spotted several big fires on the ground from our chaps. Quickly spotted by searchlights, we saw a ME-109 coming in from 12Level. I brought my turret around and gave him a quick burst and to my surprise his engine exploded and he rolled off to our port and went down.. Flak wasn't a bother as we lined up on target we felt the ship head up as the bombs were released. Later we found out we got 50% on target! The skipper put us in a hard port turn and got us out of there. Coming out of the target area I thought I spotted something in the clouds, over the intercom I called out to Barry our Tail gunner and he replied, "Right I see the bugger!" We heard his guns give off a burst and Barry tell us what was happening … Jerry's starboard engine burst into flames and did a half roll and fell below us. No other attacks as we headed back to base. A smooth trip all around.
