Mission 146 Debriefing
Target: Kiel
We took off on scheduled. As approached the Danish-German border, we were jumped by a Me 110. He surprised us and riddled our starboard (inboard) fuel tank. The enemy was driven off without further damage. A review of our fuel reserves indicated we had just enough to make it back home if the mission was aborted, so we turned around. As we headed for home, we encountered another Me 110. His passes were ineffective, but he took some minor damage from our defensive fire.
