An easy flight out was interrupted when the searchlights picked us up over the target. That led to the flak also finding us and a near burst rendered the tail guns inoperable for the night.
Before drawing breath a FW190 appeared and caused multiple hits including walking hits the length of the fuselage and hits that seemed to enter the port fuel tank. I guess with no tail guns and Sgt Stanley in the nose concentrating on the bomb run we got off pretty lightly.
The bombs went down on the markers and the fight home was as uneventful as the flight out.
Landing was a tad heavy; no injuries and I'm told that Keira IV will be ready for the next mission.
