Pint O' Bitter Mission 148 AAR : Pilsen

We took off and assumed our position in the bomber stream for this, our third mission. Crossing the North Sea and the Netherlands everything was quiet. Perhaps it was too quiet and we let our guard down, a Tame Boar catching us by surprise near Schweinfurt. Jerry got the better of us, knocking out the Outboard Starboard engine. To add insult to injury, he also jammed the bomb bay doors, making it impossible to

jettison the load. Limping along and unable to deliver our present for Adolph, I made the decision to run back for Lincoln.

Near Hanau another Bf 110 attacked. This time the lads were on alert and saw the Tame Boar coming. This pilot was good. Jerry avoided all of our fire while wounding Harry (W/O Parks). Just short of the Ruhr another Tame Boar caught us by surprise, this one equipped with schrage musik. Fortunately,

Jerry missed and for the third time this evening I put Pint O' Bitter through her paces. Jerry was unsuccessful, and Arthur (Sgt Pope) tagged him before the Bf 110 broke off the engagement.

Other than being overly long and tiring, the rest of the hop home was uneventful. The dawn sunlight and clear skies made for an easy landing. The wrench turners say Pint O' Bitter will be patched up and ready for the next mission (77 Peckham Points). The medicos say Harry will take a day to heal.
