I guess a daylight mission is okay when things are as quiet as this.
We ran in off the North Sea and lined up for the bomb run when Sgt Worthington in the tail spotted an enemy fighter. He opened fire and sprayed shots all over before we managed to persuade him that he was mistaken and there were no Jerrys around.
Whether this affected our bomb aimer Sgt Stanley is unclear, but we recon only about a fifth of the goodies went down in the right place.
A safe return to base and a welcome pint for all. Is this really the end is the question on everyone's mind.
